Far away, in land forgotten, long ago, lived a powerful young sorceress and her 3 sisters. All three were heirs to the title of Cardinal witches. There was the feisty Theodora from the Western plains, the harsh Evanora from the Eastern fields, the good Glinda of the Southern hills, and the ambitious Locasta of the Northern woods. For many years they all lived in peace, tutored by the mother witch; Gayelette of the Ruby Palace. The years went by and the mother witch delves further and further into her own research, solving the mysteries of dreams untold. And soon, she no longer met with the four young witches, and so Evanora of the east took the other witches under her wing. But she was harsh, and struck fear into the other witches. When Gayelette hears of this, she sends an emessary witch by the name of Sonadia to replace Evanora of the east. But she's ne'er to be heard of again. And this. This is how the story of our Wicked Witches began.

When hearing of Gayelette's disappearance, Locasta refuses to follow Evanora anylonger. So she exiles herself to the North, where she's safe from the wicked sister of east's harsh punishments. This, however, puts a distance between Glinda and Theodora who used to be the best of friends. Where Glinda wants to abdicate Evanora, Theodora admires her harsh coven sister. All having reached their Cardinal status no longer had to agree, so Glinda travels to the Emerald City to seek council from the king of Oz; Marcus Cornn. Here she becomes the advisor to the king, and plants a rumor that would soon spread across all of Oz. A rumor that would soon turn the lives of Theodora and Evanora upside-down. The "Wicked Witches of East and West" they came to be called. And people began to fear the two. However, that fear would not last long. For soon, another ambitious witch, this one truly wicked, came into the picture: Ozmombina Carcose, a shapshifting witch form unknown regions beyond the deadly deserts. And she brought with her a wave of political disputes. She was the advisor to former king, Pastoria. The rightful king of Oz. And so began the Third Witch War.

At first Theodora and Evanora stayed out of the fight. But one day Evanora goes to her, tired of being caught in the middle, and proposes an alliance. Glinda had already planted the seeds, so why not let the sappling spring from the ground too? Ozmombina accepts the offer. After all, who could say no to a Cardinal witch. But Theodora is suspicious. She does not like to take sides, and so she travels back to her home in the west, to the Winkie Country. Finally home, after many years gone, she travels to her parents' old castle, but finds it empty. What had happened, and where had everyone gone? Scared and angry, she visits to Winkie city of the Yellow Plains. But she's met with hatred and anger, being accused of abandoning her people in their time of need. Theodora is devastated and returns to her sister of the east, Evanora. But it's been weeks, and she finds that the harsh Evanora of the east has become the wicked witch Kalinya Nessarose Evanora Thistleswitch of the east. With a goal to seek revenge on the mother witch Gayelette, and overthrow Oz. Her people, the Munchkins live in utter fear of her. And when Theodora first meets her renewed sister, she too is frightened.
